PM Imran Khan lays foundation stone for a university and a hospital in Hafizabad

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday laid the foundation stone for a university and a hospital in Hafizabad. He also addressed a public gathering in Hafizabad.

In his address, Khan said that the government will build a 400-bed district hospital:

"Today, we have decided to build a 400-bed district hospital and a university in Hafizabad. This is your need and our responsibility."

The premier also hailed the Punjab government's decision to provide universal health insurance to citizens by the end of next year:

"I am happy that the Punjab government has decided to introduce health insurance to 50% of the province in 2020 and expand it to the entire province next year."

Khan said that under the health [insurance] card the government will provide medical insurance of Rs1 million to ordinary citizens in case they require medical attention irrespective of where they choose to get treatment from - whether public or private hospitals.

"For the first time in the country's history, an ordinary citizen will feel secure about having health insurance in case a family member gets sick," the premier added.
