The second wave of novel coronavirus infection has entered in Pakistan and wreaking considerable damage.
Precautions must be taken as the number of daily new cases is increasing gradually. On Friday, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) issued new guidelines regarding wearing masks and public gatherings. Fine of Rs. 100 has been implemented for not wearing masks in public. Indoor gatherings at wedding halls have also been banned from November 20.
In the past 24 hours, 34,400 tests were conducted out of which 1,502 came out positive. That means a positivity rate of 4.3%. Pakistan had been successful in keeping the positivity rate low (around 1-2%) for several weeks as it successfully contained the first COVID-19 wave but now it's rising as the country fights the second wave of the virus.
