Today, Special Assistant to the PM on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan notified the public regarding the increasing coronavirus positivity rate of Pakistan.
The positivity rate means the number of people testing positive for the virus out of the total number of tests conducted daily. Dr. Faisal showed his concern regarding the surge in daily coronavirus cases in Pakistan. SAPM took to Twitter and wrote:
COVID-19 data from last 24h. Cases 908. The positivity percentage is greater than 3%. Sixteen deaths. These numbers tell an unmistakable story. We are experiencing the beginning of our 2nd wave which can put lives at risk and put many livelihoods at risk and put pressure on our health system.
Adding further, he asked the public to follow COVID-19 SOPs put in place by the government so that we can keep new viral cases in check and avoid total lockdown.
Sultan said:
- Wear a mask (or cloth covering) in public places especially in tight and crowded spaces.
- Avoid large gatherings & crowds.
- Maintain approximately 6 ft. distance from others.
- Wash your hands.
If we don't adopt these measures, we will have to increase restrictions to slow transmission.
