NAWABSHAH: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday said that opposition parties are struggling to ensure rule of democracy and constitution in the country.
Addressing media persons in Nawabshah, he said that Pakistan is under unannounced martial law.
“The country’s situation is in front of everyone. This ‘selected’ government came into power through rigged elections. We are fighting to ensure rule of constitution, democracy and law in the country,” he said.
The JUI-F Chief further stated that the purpose of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) is to have re-elections in the country.
“All opposition parties unanimously want to get rid of this incompetent government,” he added.
Speaking over the issue of Captain (Retd.) Safdar’s arrest in connection with violation of sanctity of Quaid’s mausoleum, Maulana said that it was a highly condemnable act.
“Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh and Additional IG were held under hostage to register an FIR against Captain Safdar. All this needs to be investigated,” he said.
Referring to the schedule of rallies under PDM, he said,
“We will go to Quetta from here. Even last year we marched towards Islamabad to ensure rule of democracy in the country.”
Opposition parties, under the banner of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), are staging rallies against the incumbent government over what it calls bad governance and stealing elections in 2018.
