Motorway rape incident being investigated, will soon arrest culprits: CCPO Lahore

LAHORE: Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Umar Sheikh on Thursday said while speaking to a private channel that motorway rape incident is being investigated and the culprits involved in rape incident will be arrested soon.

CCPO said that the investigation into the motorway incident was underway and CCTV cameras were also being used to help. We have found a clue in the case, this case will definitely be solved, we have obtained evidence from the scene. Geo-fencing of the incident is also being done.

Umar Sheikh told that 15 suspects have been detained. The affected woman departed for Gujranwala at 12:30 AM and should have checked fuel in her car before leaving, the CCPO said.

“The woman called her brother instead of police and her brother telephoned the motorway police at 130 to send a police mobile.

“There are three villages within the five kilometer radius of the incident spot. The suspects broke the glass window of the victim’s car. Blood samples have been taken from the glass. Latest technology of rural and urban police is being used in the investigation.”

Let it be known that twenty teams have been formed under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Investigation to probe the rape incident. The teams have collected evidence from the crime scene while case has also been registered against two suspects. NNI
