ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday while directing to review the legal aspects said that former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif should be brought back to Pakistan immediately.
The meeting of the federal cabinet was held in Islamabad with Prime Minister Imran Khan in chair. During the meeting, matters pertaining to the country’s current political situation came under discussion.
Sources said that the meeting discussed bringing back PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif to Pakistan and the recent political activities of party vice president Maryam Nawaz.
Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda while expressing concern for failing to arrest Maryam Nawaz, said that she should have been arrested for what she did outside the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) office, adding that no matter what happens, Maryam Nawaz will not be allowed to leave the country.
The premier during the meeting vowed not to give in to the opposition parties, adding that it was the responsibility of the government to bring back all those wanted by the courts.
Sources further said that the ministers also raised the issue of commotion in the National Assembly session yesterday, during the meeting. The federal cabinet member said that the former prime minister and PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi used offensive language in the Lower House of the Parliament.
The federal minister for water resources said that the public didn’t vote them to hear abuses, adding that we will respond bluntly if abusive language is used in the future.
Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives Asad Omar said that the NA speaker should suspend the membership of the members who committed abusive language.
During the cabinet meeting, consultations were also held on the legal procedure for Nawaz Sharif s repatriation. The members of the cabinet said that those who fled the country by showing a certificate of illness no longer have any illness.
The federal cabinet has agreed to take all possible steps for the repatriation of the fugitive ex-prime minister.
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony Noor-ul-Haq Qadri said that Peshawar to Torkham section should be included in ML-1 project to which PM Imran Khan ordered to include Torkham section from Peshawar in ML-1 and summoned a detailed report.
Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed also supported the inclusion of Peshawar to Torkham section in the project.
