ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday while directing to use legal means to bring back former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif said that it is the responsibility of the government to bring back those wanted to the courts.
As per details, an important meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and government’s spokespersons was chaired by the prime minister Imran Khan at the Parliament House, where briefings were given on legislative process, strategy to bring back Nawaz Sharif from London and narrative of the opposition parties.
The meeting also discussed the strategy of the opposition in the current political situation and the steps to be taken to bring back Nawaz Sharif.
Speaking during the meeting, the prime minister said that it was the responsibility of the government to bring back people wanted by the courts.
“PML-N played politics on the health issues of Nawaz Sharif,” he said and announced that they would not be blackmailed by the opposition tactics.
Imran Khan said that the prime focus of the opposition was to get rid of cases against its leadership rather than national interest. “We will use all options to bring back Nawaz Sharif,” announced the prime minister.
“The PML-N did politics on Sharif’s health, adding that the government won’t be blackmailed by the opposition. The focus of the opposition is not on the national interest but on getting rid of the Sharifs cases,” said the prime minister.
According to sources, the meeting also mulled over strategy to get FATF-related legislation sail through the National Assembly.
The prime minister directed the spokespersons to effectively highlight the improvement in the economic situation of the country and said that the positive outcome of decisions related to the economy have begun to come.
“We have started receiving positive indicators regarding the economy. The focus is now on delivering the benefits of better economic indicators to the people,” he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that on August 22, Pakistan approached British authorities to repatriate three-time prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif, who is currently staying in London for his medical treatment.
Pakistan’s High Commissioner to United Kingdom Mohammad Nafees Zakaria wrote a letter to the British authorities, demanding to handover the former prime minister to the country. NNI
