The celebrity-hacker group, which called itself 'REvil', is back and this time they are threatening to release information about singer Nicki Minaj, Basketball player LeBaron James, singer and actor Mariah Carey, and others, reported Fox News.
The group posted on their website, on the dark web, to call for bids to receive information on these stars obtained allegedly after a cyber-attack on celebrity law firm ran by famed attorney Allen Grubman. The starting bid is $600,000 per star.
REvil also claimed to have secret files on Universal and MTV, the starting bid for these files starts at $1 million per company.
The group has posted some hints about what could be in these files on their website:
"Bribery celebrity’s [sic] by the Democratical [sic] party, sexual harassment by top politicians, the envy of celebrity’s for each other … all of that is waiting for you in files of Grubman company.”
According to Fox News, the group had asked for a ransom of $42 million from the Grubman firm in exchange for these files, however, the firm declined to pay the ransom. A spokesperson for the law firm said,
“The most recent post is yet another desperate nuisance tactic these criminals are using to try to squeeze out a profit from stolen data."
In May, the attackers claimed to have obtained dirt on the US President Donald Trump but never revealed any data, raising speculations if they had any information, to begin with.
