10 evergreen Pakistani artists

WEB DESK: Pakistan has enough potential to give competition to world. We have talented artists who are working tirelessly in their fields and making us proud. It is not just present, but our past too is packed with names who ruled screens. 

Those celebrities never needed introduction as their brilliant work spoke for it. Not in the past, but they are still alive in hearts. Such personalities were famous not within country but internationally as well. Ten of the very famous names are given below:

Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (1948-1997)

Every music lover must be a fan of Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. He is an asset of Pakistan even till date. His voice and his style gained him the tittle of 'Singing Budha'. Khan saheb collaborated with musicians in west. He was nominated for Grammies. Moreover, he became a part of Guinness World Record as he was the one with largest recorded output amongst Qawwal.

Muhammad Ali (1938-2006)

Movies made in past have their own pleasure. One can't forget 'Shahansha-e-Jazbaat' when talking about Pakistani cinema. He was cast as heroes and as well as villain. Plus, in a survey carried out by CNN, Muhammad Ali was included in the list of Asia's 25 greatest actors of all time. Through his brilliant acting, he received awards like 'Tamgha-e-Imtiaz', 'Noshad Award' and 'Nigar Award'. Oh, did we mention he was awarded with such tittles several times.

Reshma (1947-2013)

We had a folk-singer who made us proud not in Pakistan but also in India. Her voice was soothing for soul. She received Sitara-e-Imtiaz for her back to back brilliant performances and some of really famous are  “Dama Dam Mast Kalandar”, “Sun charkhe di mithi mithi kook”, “Chori chori” and “Ankhiyan nu rehn de”.

Moeen Akhtar (1950-2011)

Moeen Akhtar does not really need any words of appreciation. He rules Pakistan television, an artist who gave to much to us, surely an asset. A comedian like him made everyone sad and gloomy on his sad demise but he is alive through the work he did for us - for Pakistan. His most famous TV show, 'Loose Talk' with Anwar Maqsood was widely liked by Pakistanis around the globe. The late actor had received national awards several time and Pride of Pakistan award too.

Mehdi Hassan (1927-2012)

The music industry of Pakistan will never forget, Mehdi Hassan. He is also known as Shahansha-e-Ghazal (King of Ghazal). Not just he gained many awards for his singing but immense appreciation too. His contribution made the field of Ghazal wider and people started to love it. He even was complimented by well known Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar, who said,"God sings through his voice."

Waheed Murad (1938-1983)

Pakistan is blessed to have talented people and Waheed Murad a.k.a 'Chocolate Hero' is one of them. He had the charming personality which gained him many fans. His intense acting and flirtatious expressions made him a living legend. His movies used to rules box offices.

Noor Jehan (1926-2000)

Malika-e-Taranum (Queen of Melody) Noor Jehan, the name Pakistan will never ever forget. She had magical voice. She got immense fame and success throughout her life. Noor Jehan was praised by people and as well as music maters in the world. She was considered the need of Lollywood back then.
