WEB DESK: It seems easy to grab a bottled filled water and drink it right away. A lot of people do that on daily basis, it is convenient as you can carry these bottles anywhere with you. Moreover, it is not on healthy side and the whole process of its manufacturing isn't environment friendly either.Â
Plastic bottles leach chemicals
If you have ever experienced plastic bottles become softer after exposing in sun then it is plastic that is melting and making your water taste weird. According to NPR, "chemicals in plastic products can leach in and contaminate the container’s contents." An industrial chemical in plastic bottles is BPA that works as a hormone and can effect the development of brain in babies.
Bottled Water is less Safe than tap water
The tap water we used at homes is actually being tested by all means before running into taps but there is no such policy for bottled water. The companies often claim that their water is chemical free but still we don't know how it was treated before packaging. Also, tap water is chemical free whereas bottled water has chemicals in it in order to make it safer which is not healthy.
Bottled water has no proven benefits
It is a general conception that only bottled water is safe and tap water isn't which is wrong. According to NDRC, "AÂ four-year review of the safety of the water industry found no evidence supporting that bottled water is by any means superior."
Bottle production kills the environment
Production of bottles isn't healthy for environment either. As per report of Pacific Institute,"The high demand for water bottles means we use over 17 million barrels of oil on a yearly basis." It is expensive and an extra thing to do as no nation can really afford oil resources just to produce plastic bottles ?
Bottled water is expensive
Spending an amount of money on a thing which you can get almost free and health friendly doesn't really make sense. Bottled water is expensive and some brands actually costs more because their water is more safer whereas the water is same in tap and in brands it is just they have stored in different bottles.
