Several females choose not to upload their profile photo on facebook to avoid the scam, abuse, sexual harassment and spammy fake profiles, but now facebook’s new feature is a peace of mind for them.
Facebook launched a protection feature which prevents any misuse of profile photos, on Thursday. The initiative is taken from India but it is suspected that this will be expanded to further more countries.
This feature contains two tools, “profile picture guard†and “profile picture designâ€. The first tool allows the users to secure their profile picture and creep can’t download, share or send it. This surprising thing of this new upgrade is, it will also prevent people to take screenshots of profile photo which is currently only available to Andriod devices.
The second feature is a visual emblem, a blue border and shield around the profile picture which is a signal that the profile picture is secured. Â The users can report, if their picture are being misused or copied.
Facebook found, it could deter misuse by applying overlay filter. Company said, “Based on preliminary tests, we’ve learned that when someone adds an extra design layer to their profile picture, other people are at least 75% less likely to copy that pictureâ€
Social media said in a blog that, “In India, we've heard that people want more control over their profile pictures, and we've been working over the past year to understand how we can helpâ€.
