GUJRANWALA: At least 13 people got injured when some bogies of Jaffar Express derailed near Gujranwala on Tuesday, Aaj News reported.Â
According to the reports, the train was on its way to Quetta from Peshawar.
Rescue team reached the spot immediately. Around 50 passengers have been pulled out so far, rescue officials said. Â Ten of the thirteen injured in the accident have been discharged from the hospital after the necessary medical treatment.
Meanwhile, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique has expressed his grief over the incident. He directed the authorities concerned to speed up relief activities. He said the passengers should be provided with immediate relief and the track be cleared at the earliest. He said if the need arises, an alternative train should be arranged for the passengers.
Railways officials including CEO Railways Javed Anwar are present at the control room and monitoring the situation.
The spokesperson of Pakistan Railways has said that a comprehensive investigation will be carried into the train accident to determine its exact cause.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Railways has sent a special train to shift the passengers to Lahore.
Railways Minister has asked the relevant officials to submit investigation report covering all aspects of the accident within seventy two hours.-Radio Pakistan
