More than half of foreign players would play PSL final: PCB

ISLAMABAD: More than 50 percent of the foreign players representing the five Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises have agreed to play the Twenty20 tournaments final in Lahore on March 5.

According to media reports, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shahryar Khan said that more than half of foreign players participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in UAE are willing to come to Pakistan for the final.

Security is a risk, but we are determined to go ahead with our plan to host the final in Lahore as per schedule, Khan told media persons. We fully trust our law enforcement agencies to ensure fool proof security for foreign players.

The PCB chief said arrangements are in full swing at Qaddafi Cricket Stadium. We will soon issue the schedule for sale of tickets, he said.

To a question, Khan said that participation of foreign players in the final in Lahore would send a positive message.

Previously, there was a high-level meeting held earlier on Monday in Sharjah that was attended by the PSL management and franchise owners. The meeting was chaired by Pakistan Super league Chairman Najam Sethi.

It has been heart-warming to see the dedication of all the owners to the cause of taking cricket back home and there is a realization that this final will be the first step in opening the gates to international teams starting to make the journey again. We are all committed to this mission and wish to have a thoroughly entertaining final where it should happen in Lahore, said Sethi while speaking of the meeting.
