The Select Committee on 'The Right to Information Bill, 2016' unanimously elected Senator Farhatullah Babar as its chairman on Tuesday.Â
The decision was taken in the committee meeting held here with Additional Secretary Senate Dr Syed Pervais Abbas in the chair. The name of Farhatullah Baber was proposed by Senator Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah and seconded by all members present in the meeting.
After assuming the chair, Baber thanked his fellow parliamentarians for reposing confidence in him by electing him as chairman, vowing that with the support and concerted efforts of all the members, he would make the committee more result-oriented.
The committee asked the government to submit a comparative statement of both right to information bills, the one approved by the Senate committee and the other introduced by the government, during the next meeting, which will be held on January 18. The committee will review the comparative statement of both the bills.
