KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan prominent leader and Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar was released from Central Jail Wednesday after an anti-terrorism court (ATC) granted him bail in the last of the 39 cases against him. Aaj News reported.
MQM Pakistan leaders and  party workers gathered outside the central jail to welcome Akhtar.
Earlier today an Anti terrorism court (ATC) granted Akhtar bail after he submitted a surety of Rs500,000.
The last case concerned Akhtar’s alleged involvement in the treatment of terrorists at the former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain’s hospital.
Last week, Akhtar was granted bail in the 38th case registered against him.
The court also granted bail to PPP leader and former MNA Qadir Patel in the same case. Both Akhtar and Patel were ordered to submit their passports to the court prior to their bail.
