Actress Angelina Jolie has filed for a divorce from actor Brad Pitt, her attorney said in a statement on Tuesday.

"This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time," attorney Robert Offer said in the statement.

Hollywood entertainment website TMZ reported that Jolie had filed for full physical custody of all six of their children. TMZ, citing a legal filing, said Jolie "was extremely upset" by Pitt's parenting methods.

Another reason that has been brought to light is the alleged affair of Brad Pitt with an another actress.  According to reports, Angelina hired a private investigator who confirmed that Brad was indeed having an affair and was partying “like a single guy” on the sets. “She hired a private eye because she felt that he was fooling around with her on the set, and it turns out, he was. And that was the final straw,” a source told Page 6.

Pitt's ex, Jennifer Aniston has made a remark about the split. An insider told Us Weekly that Aniston said after the split was revealed: ‘Yeah, that’s karma for you!’ The 47-year-old actress reportedly said she “admittedly feels sort of satisfied about Brad and Angelina’s split”.

Hours after Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from husband Brad Pitt, the actor has released a statement. In the official statement to People magazine, Pitt said, “I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”

However, despite the statement, sources say Brad Pitt is “furious” with Angelina Jolie and believes she has put their six children at risk due the media frenzy. Paparazzi is thronging their house while the police are on constant guard to ensure nothing untoward happens.

Brad is afraid that their children will become a target for paparazzi. Brad has reportedly said, “She’s just unleashed hell.”

The superstar couple were married in 2014 after 10 years together. TMZ reported Jolie cited their separation date as Sept. 15.
