Meera claims to receive death threats

After social media sensation Qandeel Baloch, who was strangled by her own brother in Multan, another Pakistani model/actress Meera seeks security from government. Lollywood actress Meera refused to appear in court due to security threats and reasons of fear for her life.

She had earlier declared that she was never married to Ateeq ur Rahman, and that he had forged the Nikkah Nama which was a strict crime.

According to a local media report, The Lollywood actress was due to appear in the court today to record a statement, but instead submitted an application where she requested the court to exempt her from in-person appearance and record her statement via video link just because she could not appear due to security concerns. The controversial social media star had also written a letter to Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, seeking security over threats to her life.

She told the judge, “My life is in danger. I cannot come to court time and again”. She said that diverse range of artists and celebrities are being attacked across the country, which had caused great insecurity among her.

Irtiza Rubab, better known by her stage name Meera is a Pakistani, television presenter, model and a self-acclaimed philanthropist as well. The court called upon Ateeq ur Rehman, in the next hearing on August 26.
