Rahat Fateh Ali Khan honored by Oxford University

WEB DESK: Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has been awarded with ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ by prestigious Oxford University. Currently on a tour of the United Kingdom, Khan was invited by the university to the Holy Hall academy where he received the award.

“The ‘Holywell Music Room’ is the oldest music room of Europe, made in the 17th century, which was specially opened up for Khan sahab,” shared his PR rep. “The biggest composers and musicians of the UK & Europe of the last three centuries have made music in that room. It's historically a very prestigious place,” local media reported.

The Pakistani singer also performed with singers from the institute and also with the fusion project. Fusion project comprises of a group of students who wish to revive Indian classical art and make it accessible.

In a Twitter message, Rahat said that he is honored to receive award from Oxford University. Rahat said that he misses his mentor Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. With this honour, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has become first Pakistani to receive this award, earlier Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan recieved this award.
