Seven records 'Sultan' broke as it released

WEB DESK: One of the most anticipated releases of this year, the movie has not just opened well but in fact gone on to break several records on the day of its release itself. Here’s more about the record-breaking spree.

1. Highest advance booking collection

Ticket bookings for Sultan had started three days in advance and the collections broke a record even before the movie released. The movie collected between Rs. 18 to 20 crore, which is more than the previous records set by Kick or Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

2. Highest collection on a Wednesday

Movies rarely release mid-week but Bhai on the other hand has had two of his films release on a Wednesday given the occasion of Eid. Sultan broke the record set by Ek Tha Tiger by collecting Rs. 38-40 crore on a Wednesday!

3. Highest occupancy of the year

Even though there was some confusion regarding Eid, Sultan went on to break yet another record for highest occupancy of 2016. Beating SRK’s Fan and Akshay Kumar’s Airlift, Sultan opened to an occupancy of 80-90 percent.
