Ali Gul Pir made us realize that it is really important to create an audience for sarcasm before the concept of viral videos became a well known episode to get popularity in Pakistan.
Pir remains the online sensation owing to his satirical viewpoint on various situations, from eve teasing to corruption.
Benjamin Zand, British filmmaker and journalist, chose the star for an upcoming documentary commissioned by BBC World.
While talking about the project, Pir said, “Ben wanted to come to Karachi and shoot the other side of what is usually shown. He also wanted to follow me to a concert and spend some time with me and few other people, who are doing positive things in Pakistan.â€
Zand, for whom this was the first trip to Pakistan, a lot of misconceptions were cleared regarding Pakistani society and culture.
“It’s up to us to counter the constant negativity about Pakistan on international media. Zand loved Pakistan. He had many misconceptions about Pakistan and had no idea about the progressive part; like our beaches, our people, and that we actually have concerts,†he added.
Previously, Zand had produced a documentary on the children of Lyari which work to contradict the stereotypes about Pakistan around the world.
