Dawlance Embarks on Be Reliable, Recycling Campaign

Company’s new initiative seeks to encourage consumers to recycle and aims to create awareness about sustainability

Dawlance, Pakistan’s number one home appliance brand, has taken up the initiative to promote recycling amongst Pakistanis in a bid to achieve a greener future.

As part of the company’s Be Reliable, Recycle initiative, Dawlance’s new series of locally assembled products are wrapped in packaging that features step-by-step instructions on how the appliance carton can be easily recycled to make various objects. Some of the items that can be created using the instructions given on the cartons include a laundry basket, pencil holder, tray, dinosaur cartoon and a table.
Dawlance, which has been promoting a vision of “Making Pakistan Proud”, has won the Annual Environmental Excellence Award (AEEA) multiple times in recent years. Dawlance’s Senior Vice President of Communications, Hasan Azim, explained that the organization promotes recycling within employees and that plays a positive role in preserving the environment.

Hasan Azim added, “Considering the global impact of Climate Change, and particularly its harsh effects on Pakistan, it’s important for us to take proactive steps to protect the environment. Recycling is one of the simpler ways in which we can reduce our carbon footprint and keeping in view the local context, we can also reduce our energy consumption.”

He added, “According to some estimates about 50 to 60% of rubbish can be recycled. Hence, if everyone took that the responsibility of reducing our consumption of resources and resorting to recycling, we could collectively make a substantial contribution and Make Pakistan Proud.”

As part of its Be Reliable, Recycle campaign, Dawlance is also organizing a recycling competition amongst students of multiple primary schools in Karachi. The students will be tasked with making objects out of Dawlance cartons with the most creative project-winners being given prizes.
