6.1 magnitude earthquake tremors felt in Islamabad, KPK and other Punjab areas

ISLAMABAD: Earthquake tremors were felt within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad and other cities of Punjab on Thursday. According to sources, the intensity of the earthquake on the Richter scale was 6.1.

The earthquake tremors were also felt in Peshawar, Swat, Malk Waal, Gilgit, Hunza, Lahore and other areas of Punjab as well.

The epicenter of the earthquake has been reported to be the HinduKush mountains. Tremors were also felt in the Afghanistan province of Badakshan.

The earthquake which was reported to have originated from the HinduKush region in Afghanistan led to jolts being felt in different areas of Afghanistan, Jammu & Kashmir, Northern India and Pakistan.

The tremors which continued for almost 5 seconds occurred at around 7pm. Fortunately, no casualties or any damage to properties have been reported following the quake.
