OBL Commission to re-investigate the 2nd May 2011 Incident

The commission assigned with the task of  looking into the facts regarding the 2nd May, 2011 operation that killed Osama Bin Laden has yet to conclude its findings even after a while year.

The US forces horded into Pakistan territory on May 2, 2012 and terminated the Al-Qaeda chief in a compound near Pakistan military academy in Abbottabad.

In accordance with the undisputed decision of parliament, PM Yousuf Raza Gilani on 31st May, 2011 represented a five-member commission to investigate the occurrence.

Justice Javed Iqbal is leading the commission. Other members of the commission include” Justice (retd) Fakharuddin G Ebrahim, Lt Gen. (Retd) Nadeem Ahmed, Former IG Abbas Khan and former ambassador Ashraf Jahangir Qazi. Secretary Cabinet Ms. Nargis Sethi has been working as the secretary of the commission.

The commission is commanded to determine the full facts regarding the presence of Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan. It was also to examine the circumstances and facts concerning the US operation in Abbottabad in May 2, 2012.

The commission was also directed to conclude the nature, conditions and causes of lapses of the troubled authorities, if any, and make consequent recommendations.
