"The Casual Vacancy": J.K. Rowling's new book

Little, Brown & Co, publisher of the book, announced the name of the book along with an abstract on Friday.  The publisher further stated that the book would be available globally on September 27. The book is based upon the tale of rivalry and deceit in a small idyllic English town.

The book will be the first attempt for Rowling post the Harry Potter series. Her wizard series comprised of seven volumes, having 450 million copies sold and was translated into 74 languages. The entire series turned out to be so successful that it also made an entry in Hollywood via the cinematic route.

Rowling, earlier this year, stated that she wanted to reach an adult audience, but kept the book's name and publication date secret until Thursday.

Precedents have indicated that flourishing children’s writers have never carried out their touch with the adults. A.A. Milne, inventor of Winnie the Pooh, once admitted that he was forced to end writing after his bear books. On the contrary, the main advantage that Rowling enjoys is the fact that her Potter series books were similarly popular amongst adults and children.

The British bookstore chain Warstones is very confident about the success of Rowling’s new book and it states that the book would be this years’ best selling novel.
