An official statement said that various decisions were made for controlling the situation and for ensuring the protection of the lives and property of the people.
It said that the meeting was attended by the Governor of Sindh, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan, Provincial Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, provincial ministers Raza Haroon, Ayaz Soomro, Dr. Sagheer Ahmed, Amir Nawab, Murad Ali Shah.
The meeting was also attended by Senator Shahi Syed, Rana Gul Afridi and Wasim Aftab.
The statement said that representatives of the three political parties attending the meeting agreed that action would be ensured against the criminals and the miscreants without any distinction or pressure irrespective of any group of party they belong to.
It said that the participants of the meeting also appealed to the media to extend cooperation towards bringing about improvements in the situation, and contribute towards fostering the environment of unity and cohesion.
Later, talking to media Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan thanked Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Rehman Malik and said that with the joint efforts the three coalition parties sat together and several problems have been resolved.
He said that there are certain elements out to take advantage of the lawlessness in the city. To frustrate such machinations the political parties should sit together and face this challenge with confidence and commitment.
Rehman Malik said that President Asif Ali Zardari has directed that stern action should be taken against the criminals.
He said that the action against criminals and miscreants would be without any distinction.
He said that it is the stance of the three parties that they will work together for the protection of the people of Karachi.
It was further stated that the three parties would also endorse government's indiscriminate action against the criminals.
In this regard they thanked President Asif Ali Zardari, chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain, and head of Awami National Party (ANP), Asfandar Yar Wali.
