Pak-India trade to cut freight charges

This was stated by the chairman Pakistan Chemicals & Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA) Muhammad Haroon Agar in a statement issued here Monday.

He said that Pakistani importers have to pay about $ 300 as freight charges on the import of one container full of dyes and chemicals while he has to pay $ 1800 on each container from China and Europe.

He said that Pakistan imports chemicals, dyes, spices, plastics products in large quantity from India.

Agar noted that decline in the cost of import will reduce production cost for textile exporters and other consumer items' producers in Pakistan.

He said this will also cut shipment time between the two countries.

PCDMA chairman welcomed the decision of gradual removal of negative list of trade between the two neighbour and urged the government to expedite the bilateral trade.

He said several deals have been negotiated between the traders of Pakistan and India for the import of raw materials.
