Westerly wave continues to affect upper parts of country

An official of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) told APP that the isolated rain and snowfall over hills continued for the last 24-48 hours in northeast Punjab, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi and Islamabad divisions, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), including Malakand, Hazara and Peshawar divisions.

However, the weather system is likely to subside till Monday night or Tuesday morning and it is expected to remain cloudy or dry in the Federal Capital, Punjab and KP during next 24 hours.

Mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of Sindh and Balochistan during next 24 hours. Scattered rain with snowfall over the hills is expected in most parts of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during next 24 hours.

The minimum temperature was recorded -6C in Kalat and Malamjabba. Minimum temperatures in other cities were: Islamabad 8 C, Lahore 7 C, Quetta -4 C, Karachi 17 C, Peshawar 7 C, Muzaffarabad 3 C, Gilgit 1 C, Murree -5 C, Multan 6 C and Faisalabad 7C.

Malamjabba received 1.5 feet snow while it was recorded 10 inches in Kalam and Murree and 5 inches in Dir during last 24 hours.

The rainfall recorded during last 24 hours was: Dir 46 mm, Kalam 20 mm, Lower Dir 28 mm, Muzaffarabad 26 mm, Pattan 23 mm, Risalpur 22 mm, Cherat 21 mm, Balakot 20 mm, Saidu Sharif and Sialkot 19 mm, Rawalakot and Kamra 16 mm, Mirkhani 15 mm, Peshawar 12 mm, Kotli and Garidupatta 11 mm, Jhang and Kakul 8 mm, Islamabad 7 mm, Sargodha 6 mm and Jhelum 5 mm.
