No danger to democracy in country: Awan

This was emphatically stated by a former federal minister and a senior leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Dr. Babar Awan MNA.

He was talking to media persons on arrival at the Karachi Airport on Saturday. Spokesman of Bilawal House, Aijaz Durrani and Akram Baloch were also present on the occasion.

"Let me say it clearly that there is no danger to the democracy as the nation is awake", Babar Awan remarked. He further pointed out this is so because the Parliament is united.

Babar Awan said that all the institutions would Inshallah remain within their parameters and limits and that this would help us in heading towards the resolution of  problems of the people in the country.

He pointed out that immense sacrifices have been offered for the cause of democracy in the country and the prime sacrifice was offered by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

The PPP leader was of the view that it was also the history of Pakistan that "conspiracies" and the democracy continued side by side.

He said that those who had framed the Constitution also struggled for saving the Constitution.

Babar Awan said that those who had violated the Constitution also continued their efforts and because of this out of  37 years  the Constitution remained suspended for 21 years.

"After the government of the then president Pervez Musharraf, the Constitution and the institutions that were restored are very dear to us," he remarked adding that because of this the provinces got autonomy and due rights, and the 1973 Constitution was restored in its original shape.

The PPP leader further said that even today the creator of the 1973 Constitution while lying in his eternal abode at  Garhi Khuda Bakhsh is awaiting justice. He said that we have  tried  to convince our "friends of Takhat-i- Lahore" that the democracy is inclusive and not exclusive and that in this all the political forces and the people have to be taken along.

Babar Awan said that when they had organised a rally he (Babar) had commented that today the decline of the politics of Nawaz Sharif Saheb has begun and even 90 days have not passed since then that even those who suffered jail for nine years and stood by him  are leaving Mian Nawaz Sharif's party.

He recited Urdu verse: "Isi khatir tou qatal-e-ashqan say mana kartay thay, akelay phir rahay ho Yusuf-i-bekarwaan ho kar". The PPP leader further stated that we have taken all the people along and for this in democracy one has to be large hearted.

He said that the statements that have come yesterday suggest all consider the Constitution as their guide. " This is the right approach- trichotomy of power", he commented.

Babar Awan said that "I pay tribute to the land of Sindh which gave birth to a son- Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who  gave the consensus 1973 Constitution. The creator of this Constitution should also get the justice.

He said that he (Babar) was the first law minister who left the ministry for seeking justice for him and stood up as a lawyer. Babar Awan said that he does not care for the `media  trial and conspiracies against him (Babar).

He said that he is fully convinced that those who live for the people and die for the people remain always alive and that this is history.

The PPP leader said that while saving the system in the country we also want the verdict of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's case. The re-opening of this case and there should be prompt judgement, he added.

He also pointed out that in March 2012 there will be election of the Senate of Pakistan. The process to this effect would commence in February and complete in the first week of March with the election of the new chairman of the Senate, Deputy Chairman and Senators.

About the general elections of 2013 in the country, Babar Awan said that on the one side there would be Kings' parties and on the other sides would be ring parties. Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) would lead the ring parties and who would lead the Kings' parties is not being stated as yet.

He said that there are no holy cows in the country and we will not allow anything to be hidden from the people.

He said that one surprise has come to the fore today and more surprises would be mostly from the " GT Road party".
