According to details, unknown armed men opened fire on Shahbaz Bhatti's car near his residence in I/8 sector, Islamabad.
In the attack, Shahbaz Bhatti hit several bullets and immediately shifted to Al-Shifa International hospital where he died. Sources said that Bhatti was not escorted by security.
Doctor Azmat ullah confirmed that the federal minister killed in the attack. According to sources, Shahbaz Bhatti had been receiving threats. He was warned of threat to his life a month ago.
Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif condemned the killing of Shahbaz Bhatti. President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani also condemned the killing and ordered to probe in the incident.
After the incident police conducted search operation and arrested at least six people on suspicion.
