20,000 policemen deployed for Ashura in Karachi

At least 20,000 personnel of police have been deployed across Karachi for security around all the mosques and Imambargahs during Ashura on Friday.

The mourners will take out processions to reach the main point at Numaish Chowrangi from at least 305 Imambargahs of the city.

After passing through its traditional route, the mourning procession would culminate at Imambarghah Husanian Iranian Kharadar.

The aerial surveillance of the processions has also been ensured while forces have also been deployed on roof-tops of the buildings along the traditional routes from where the processions will pass through while parking of vehicles has been allowed at reasonable distance from the place of congregations.

The `Sham-i-Ghariban' would be organized there later in the evening.

The administration has made strict security arrangements on the occasion.

Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) will remain red alert on Youm-e-Ashur.

In Lahore, the Traffic Police have prepared a comprehensive plan to ensure clear routes for processions and smooth flow of traffic on Youm-e-Ashur.

The flow of traffic would be controlled by providing diversions on various routes to facilitate the participants of processions and citizen of Lahore.

In Faisalabad, Four monitoring teams have been constituted to monitor the entire security arrangements on Ashura day.
