The troubled pop princess, who was this week ordered to undergo random drug and alcohol testing as part of her custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, faces an arraignment hearing on October 10, city attorneys said.
Spears, 25, has also been charged with driving without a valid California license. She will not be required to attend next month's court hearing because the allegations are only misdemeanor counts.
The charges stem from an incident in a private parking lot on August 6, where she was captured on film by paparazzi journalists bumping another vehicle before driving off. No-one was hurt in the incident and damage to the other vehicle appeared to be minor.
