The Royal College of Art in London on Thursday unveiled some of 2,500 original postcards which will be put on sale for the same low price, some by top artists and some not, to make money for students.
Each piece of art costs 40 pounds (56 euros, 82 dollars) and has been made and donated either by professional artists, designers and illustrators, or up-and-coming recent RCA graduates.
Each card is signed on the back, but unless the buyer is an art aficionado, the artist's identity is kept a secret until the purchase has been made -- with lucky winners of top artists' work getting a surprise bargain.
Previous contributors have included artists Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin and David Hockney as well as the Turner Prize-winner potter Grayson Perry, former Beatle Paul McCartney and photographer David Bailey.
The cards can be seen in person at the RCA or at www.rca.ac.uksecret from November 16-23, before the sale on November 24.
Proceeds from the show, which has been running since 1994, goes into a fund for fine art students.
