New leads emerge in PTI leader Abdullah Tahir's murder probe
2 min readLahore Police have uncovered new leads in the murder investigation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Abdullah Tahir, with investigators searching for the alleged facilitators and shooters involved in the killing.
According to police sources, Abdullah Tahir’s driver, Asghar, has been taken into custody and his mobile phone seized for investigation.
During questioning, Asghar allegedly disclosed that he had been sharing information about Tahir’s whereabouts and movements with a female TikToker, the sources said.
Police said the female TikToker, identified as Lareeb, is the former wife of Arsalan Jutt, a business rival of Abdullah Tahir.
Arsalan Jutt reportedly hired two shooters to take out Abdullah Tahir.
Police also questioned Asghar and the woman TikToker face-to-face as part of the investigation, according to sources.
Investigators have also detained suspects accused of conducting reconnaissance at the crime scene before the attack and arranging a vehicle for the perpetrators.
Five suspects, including women, who allegedly facilitated the murder are currently in custody, police sources said.
Meanwhile, Arsalan Jutt and two hired shooters remain at large, with police and other law-enforcement agencies continuing efforts to locate and arrest them.
The sources said the last known location of Arslan Jutt and two shooters was traced to Waziristan.
The Counter Crime Department (CCD) and other agencies are conducting operations in the area to track them down.
Police are also searching for a woman who was reportedly living in Gujranwala with Arslan Jutt.
Two suspects, Zeeshan and Adeel, who are in CCD custody, allegedly arranged the vehicle used in the operation and changed its number plates.
The motorcycle allegedly used in the killing was recovered from Adeel’s residence, according to police sources.
Meanwhile, police are conducting raids to locate the drone operator who allegedly monitored Abdullah Tahir’s movements before the attack.
Investigators are continuing to examine the suspects’ roles, their contacts and the planning behind the killing as efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects continue.
