More than a dozen leaders and workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) were reportedly injured after clashes erupted between two rival groups of the party at its Bahadurabad office in Karachi, prompting authorities to shut down the party’s central office.

According to sources, a meeting of the group led by MQM-P Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui was underway when senior party leader Anees Qaimkhani arrived at the venue accompanied by his supporters.

The sources said a heated exchange took place following Qaimkhani’s arrival.

After Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui left the meeting, workers from the two groups reportedly came face-to-face, leading to a physical altercation.

During the clash, several party workers were allegedly assaulted.

Sources claimed that the clothes of a member of the party’s Central Committee were torn, while Member of the Provincial Assembly Hafiz Ejaz-ul-Haq and Member of the National Assembly Sabeen Ghauri were also allegedly subjected to mistreatment.

The sources further claimed that gunfire was also reported during the incident.

However, there was no immediate official confirmation regarding the firing or any casualties.

Following the clash, a heavy police contingent was deployed to the MQM-P headquarters in Bahadurabad.

In view of the tense situation, the party’s central office was closed, while authorities continued to monitor the situation.
