The US military said it carried out another round of strikes on Iranian military targets late on Wednesday, marking the 12th consecutive night of operations against Tehran as tensions in the Gulf continue to escalate.

In a statement posted on X, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the latest wave of strikes concluded at 10.30pm Washington time (0230 GMT Thursday).

According to CENTCOM, the operation targeted Iranian maritime capabilities, missile and drone storage facilities, coastal surveillance sites and air defence assets.

It said the strikes were aimed at further degrading Iran’s ability to attack civilian mariners and commercial shipping.

The command said US forces have struck dozens of Iranian military sites on land this month as part of ongoing operations while enforcing a naval blockade on Iran.

CENTCOM also said it has redirected nine commercial vessels and disabled one to prevent ships from entering or leaving Iranian ports, even as Iran continues to enforce its own blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

The command added that more than 50,000 US service members are currently deployed across the Middle East in support of the military campaign.
