Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday inaugurated an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered Prime Minister’s Office System (PMOS), Pakistan’s first AI-driven government digital platform designed to automate the implementation, monitoring and execution of the prime minister’s directives while strengthening decision-making, transparency and governance.

The new system will digitally oversee every stage of official directives, from their issuance and implementation to progress tracking, completion and post-execution monitoring, bringing all processes under a single integrated platform.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony at the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Shehbaz directed all ministries and government departments to ensure the immediate and full implementation of the new system.

He said the era of relying on traditional paper files should come to an end, stressing that all ministries must transition to the modern digital platform to carry out official business more efficiently.

The prime minister said timely implementation of government decisions was essential to improving public service delivery and public welfare.

He added that the AI-powered system would make decision-making faster, more transparent and more effective while enhancing the government’s ability to monitor the execution of policies and directives.

Shehbaz also praised the efforts of Federal Minister Ahsan Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja and the officials involved in developing the project.

Speaking at the ceremony, Cheema said the AI and data-driven platform had been introduced to modernise governance by improving transparency, enabling timely implementation of decisions and strengthening the performance of ministries.

He said the previous system had several technical shortcomings, all of which had been addressed in the new platform to ensure more effective implementation of government decisions and better utilisation of outcomes.

IT Minister Shaza Fatima said PM Shehbaz had initiated digitalisation during his tenure as chief minister of Punjab, and the federal government was now moving beyond conventional digital systems towards AI-enabled governance.

She said Pakistan was steadily advancing towards a paperless government, adding that the Prime Minister’s Office System would strengthen institutional accountability, improve the performance of ministries and encourage greater self-assessment across government departments.

According to the official briefing, PMOS is Pakistan’s first AI-powered government digital platform that integrates the complete lifecycle of official directives, including issuance, implementation, progress monitoring, completion and follow-up oversight, into a single automated system.

Officials said the platform would continuously monitor the performance of ministries, ensure directives are implemented within prescribed timelines and support the effective execution of government policies.

By leveraging AI and advanced digital technologies, the system is expected to enhance transparency, accelerate decision-making and promote more efficient and accountable governance across the federal government.
