Field Marshal awarded Turkish military honour during official visit
2 min readPakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, is on an official visit to Turkiye aimed at further strengthening strategic and defence ties between the two countries, the military’s media wing said.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Field Marshal met Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and Defence Minister Yaşar Güler to discuss matters of mutual interest and regional security. The talks highlighted a shared vision to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries amid an evolving geopolitical environment.
At the Turkish General Staff Headquarters, Field Marshal received with a guard of honour before holding talks with Chief of the Turkish General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu on regional security and professional matters of mutual concern.
General Bayraktaroğlu awarded Field Marshal the Turkish Armed Forces Distinguished Service Medal in recognition of his services and commitment to strengthening bilateral military cooperation, ISPR said.
He also visited the Turkish Land Forces Headquarters, where he was received by Commander of the Turkish Land Forces General Metin Tokel.
He later visited Anıtkabir, the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, where he laid a floral wreath and paid tribute to the founder of modern Turkiye.
ISPR said the visit reflected the commitment of Pakistan and Turkiye to further strengthen their defence relationship and continue joint efforts for regional peace and stability.
