Punjab CM Maryam launches Green Bus Service in six districts
1 min readPunjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Thursday launched the Green Bus Service in six districts of the province and announced plans to expand the environmentally friendly public transport network to all tehsils across Punjab.
Addressing the launch ceremony in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz said the Punjab government was working to improve public transportation facilities and make travel safer, easier and more accessible for citizens.
She said the Green Bus Service had received a strong public response and had particularly benefited women by providing them with a safe and dignified mode of transport.
“The Punjab government is committed to improving transport facilities for the public, and we are making travel easier and safer for citizens,” she said.
The chief minister announced that, in the next phase, the Green Bus Service would be extended to tehsil-level areas, adding that the government planned to gradually expand the service to all 148 tehsils of Punjab.
Maryam Nawaz said the Green Bus Service not only offered affordable transportation but was also environmentally friendly, describing it as an important step towards developing a modern urban transport system in the province.
She added that the government aimed to provide quality transport services to the public at the lowest possible fares.
