Netflix has announced a television adaptation of Icebreaker, the bestselling sports romance novel by author Hannah Grace, bringing one of BookTok’s most popular titles to the screen, according to Khaleej Times newspaper.

The streaming platform confirmed the project on social media, revealing that the hit novel will be developed as a TV series.

Based on the first book in Grace’s Maple Hills series, Icebreaker follows competitive figure skater Anastasia Allen and college hockey captain Nate Hawkins.

Their lives intersect when their teams are forced to share the same ice rink after a facilities issue, leading to an unexpected romance.

First published in 2022, Icebreaker became a major BookTok phenomenon, spending 70 consecutive weeks on The New York Times bestseller list and selling nearly five million copies worldwide.

The novel later grew into the Maple Hills series, which also includes Wildfire and Daydream.

Netflix has not yet announced casting details or a release date for the series.
