Indian singer Talwiinder faces backlash after sharing stage with Hasan Raheem
2 min readIndian singer Talwiinder has come under criticism on social media after appearing alongside Pakistani singer Hasan Raheem during a concert in Toronto, sparking debate over artistic collaborations between performers from India and Pakistan amid strained ties between the two countries.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the controversy began after Talwiinder joined Hasan Raheem on stage during a concert in the Canadian city. Videos and photographs of the two artists singing together, embracing and performing informally quickly went viral on social media.
Later, Talwiinder shared highlights from the concert on Instagram and wrote that a “dream came true in Toronto”, triggering mixed reactions online.
Critics argued that such collaborations were inappropriate given the current tensions between Pakistan and India. Some social media users posted harsh comments, including “shame on you”, targeting the Indian singer for sharing the stage with a Pakistani artist.
However, many users defended Talwiinder, saying music and art should rise above politics and borders. Supporters described the joint appearance as a symbol of cultural harmony rather than political endorsement.
This is not the first time Talwiinder has found himself at the centre of an online debate. The singer has previously made headlines over personal and professional matters, including rumours linking him to actress Disha Patani.
Talwiinder began his music career on digital platforms and gained popularity through songs including “Khamoshi”, “Dhundhala” and “Fuck Love”. In 2024, he released his debut album “Misfit”, which further boosted his profile.
