Netflix has introduced a major mobile app update featuring a new vertical video feed called Clips, designed to let users scroll through short previews of films, series and specials in a format similar to short-form social media apps.

Launched on 1 May 2026, the feature aims to simplify content discovery by reducing the time users spend browsing and helping them quickly decide what to watch.

Instead of navigating traditional rows of titles, users can now scroll vertically through personalised clips.

Each preview is tailored to viewing preferences and allows direct actions such as adding titles to a watchlist, sharing clips, or continuing to scroll.

Netflix says Clips is designed to make discovery faster and more engaging by turning browsing into a continuous stream of short video previews.

The company also plans to expand the feature in the future to include podcasts, live programming and genre-based collections such as comedy and romance.

According to Netflix, the update is part of a wider effort to improve mobile viewing, which it says is the most commonly used platform for its subscribers during daily “in-between” moments.

Netflix Chief Product and Technology Officer Elizabeth Stone said the aim is to make the mobile experience as engaging as the content itself, adding that this is “just the beginning” of more personalised and immersive features.

The update is currently available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines and South Africa, with a wider global rollout planned in the coming months.
