Pakistan rejects India’s ‘baseless propaganda’ over Pahalgam incident
2 min readPakistan on Thursday rejected India’s allegations linking it to the Pahalgam incident, calling them “baseless” and part of a recurring propaganda campaign aimed at serving domestic political objectives.
In an official statement issued from Islamabad, the Foreign Office said it was “deplorable” that India had once again attempted to associate Pakistan with the incident at a time when Islamabad, in coordination with international partners, is engaged in diplomatic efforts to promote regional and global peace.
The statement noted that despite an ongoing regional crisis, India continues to rely on what it described as “weaponising false narratives” against Pakistan for internal political gains.
Referring to last year’s Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos, the Foreign Office said India had already received a “befitting reply” to its “misplaced adventurism,” adding that the latest allegations were part of a broader pattern aimed at creating a smokescreen for its actions in the region.
“The fact remains that such propaganda campaigns cannot distract the international community’s attention from India’s continued occupation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and denial of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, in violation of United Nations resolutions,” the statement said.
It further warned that India’s “inflammatory rhetoric, repeated provocations and aggressive military posturing” pose a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
The Foreign Office also criticised India’s unilateral move to hold the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance, terming it a clear violation of international law.
Pakistan urged the international community to call on India to demonstrate responsible behaviour and refrain from actions that could derail ongoing efforts aimed at maintaining regional and international peace and security.
