Tensions in the Middle East continued to escalate sharply amid threats by US President Donald Trump that Iran could be “taken out” if it did not meet his Tuesday night deadline to reach a deal.

The US president threatened the “complete demolition” of Iran’s power plants and critical infrastructure, including bridges, within hours if the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz is not fully reopened by a Tuesday deadline.

Trump also commented on Iran’s response to a US-backed ceasefire proposal, describing it as “significant” but ultimately “not good enough,” signalling that diplomatic efforts remain strained and uncertain.

In response, Iranian military officials dismissed Trump’s threats as “delusional,” according to statements carried in Iranian media.

They further stated that such rhetoric cannot compensate for what they described as the US “disgrace and humiliation” in the region.

Amidst the bloodbath, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported large-scale military operations against Iran.

According to an official statement, US forces have struck more than 13,000 Iranian targets as part of the ongoing campaign, dubbed Operation Epic Fury.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) claimed that more than 155 Iranian vessels have been either damaged or destroyed in ongoing military operations.

According to officials, the campaign is being carried out using a wide range of advanced military assets, including nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, submarines, F-35 stealth fighter jets, and B-52 long-range bombers.

Meanwhile, the human toll is steadily rising as the conflict shows no signs of easing.

At least 34 people were reported killed across Iran on Monday due to US and Israeli air strikes.

In retaliation, Iran launched waves of missiles and drones targeting key sites across Gulf countries.
