The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has increased the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by Rs78.28 per kg, setting the new maximum rate at Rs304.12 per kg, according to a notification issued on Tuesday.

The revised prices will take effect from April 1, 2026, and will apply to both locally produced and imported LPG.

Under the new rates, the price of a standard 11.8kg domestic cylinder has been fixed at Rs3,588.59, while the producer price stands at Rs3,101.25 per cylinder. The notified price includes marketing, distribution, and transportation margins.

The increase comes amid rising global energy prices and ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

The LPG Distributors Association has warned of further increases, cautioning that prices could rise by Rs90 to Rs100 per kg in the coming weeks. It said LPG could reach as high as Rs500 per kg, with domestic cylinder prices potentially increasing by up to Rs1,000.

Association representative Irfan Khokhar said the hike could trigger a new wave of inflation, making LPG unaffordable for low-income households.

Officials noted that global LPG prices have already risen by $238, adding pressure on domestic rates.
