Indian worker killed in Iranian attack on Kuwait desalination plant
1 min readAn Iranian strike on a power and water desalination facility in Kuwait has killed one Indian worker and caused significant damage to a building at the site, Kuwaiti authorities confirmed on Monday.
“A service building at a power and water desalination plant was attacked as part of the Iranian aggression against the State of Kuwait, resulting in the death of an Indian worker and significant material damage to the building,” the Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity said in a statement.
Technical and emergency teams were immediately dispatched to the facility to manage the aftermath and ensure operations could continue, according to a report by Al Jazeera.
No official comment has come from Iran regarding the attack.
Kuwaiti authorities reported that the plant sustained extensive damage.
The conflict, which has killed more than 2,000 people according to Iranian authorities — including former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other top officials — has seen extensive strikes on critical infrastructure.
Iranian forces have retaliated with drone and missile attacks against Israel and regional states hosting US military assets.
The war has also disrupted the Strait of Hormuz, a key shipping lane responsible for roughly 20 per cent of global oil and liquefied natural gas flows, driving energy prices higher and destabilising financial markets.
