Trump warns of heavy bombardment if Iran attempts to close Strait of Hormuz
2 min readPresident Donald Trump has warned that the United States will take aggressive military action if Iran attempts to close the strategic Strait of Hormuz, saying Washington would ensure the crucial waterway remains open even if it requires heavy bombardment of coastal areas.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Saturday, Trump said multiple countries would deploy naval forces alongside the United States to safeguard the key shipping lane, which is vital for global energy supplies.
“Many Countries, especially those who are affected by Iran’s attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait, will be sending War Ships, in conjunction with the United States of America, to keep the Strait open and safe,” Trump wrote.
However, the US president did not provide details on which nations had formally agreed to participate in the operation.
Trump expressed hope that major economies including China, France, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom would send naval vessels to the region to prevent disruption to global trade.

“In the meantime, the United States will be bombing the hell out of the shoreline, and continually shooting Iranian Boats and Ships out of the water,” he wrote.
In a longer statement, Trump claimed that the US had already destroyed “100% of Iran’s Military capability” but warned that Tehran could still attempt to disrupt the waterway through drones, naval mines or short-range missile attacks.
According to US officials, the Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical energy transit routes, with a significant portion of global oil shipments passing through the narrow maritime corridor connecting the Persian Gulf to international markets.
The White House did not immediately confirm whether any countries had agreed to deploy warships to the region.
Rising tensions in the Middle East have heightened concerns about the security of the strait, which analysts say is crucial for global energy markets and international trade.
