Iran claims attack on US bases in Bahrain as regional tensions escalate
1 min readIran has claimed it attacked United States military bases in Bahrain, alleging that several American personnel were killed, as tensions across the Middle East continue to escalate.
In a statement, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it targeted US military installations in Bahrain, claiming multiple American soldiers were killed in the strike.
However, the claim has not been independently verified, according to reports cited by Al Jazeera.
The IRGC said Iranian forces are closely monitoring developments across the region and keeping watch over movements near the country’s borders.
The statement warned that any military deployment or operation near Iran’s borders would receive a “strong response.”
Iran also issued a warning to the leadership of the Kurdistan Region, urging it to avoid activities that could threaten Iran’s security.
Meanwhile, news agencies reported hearing a loud explosion in Kuwait City, though no immediate details were available about the nature of the blast or possible damage.
Separately, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) accused Iran of launching drones towards residential areas in Bahrain.
CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper said Iranian forces fired seven attack drones toward residential neighbourhoods in Bahrain on Thursday evening.
In a statement posted on social media, Cooper alleged that Iran was deliberately targeting civilian populations in the Middle East, calling such actions “unacceptable.”
