297 Taliban operatives killed, dozens of posts destroyed
2 min readPakistan’s armed forces have intensified retaliatory actions against Afghan Taliban positions under Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, killing 297 Taliban operatives and destroying extensive military infrastructure along and across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, said that as of 11.00 p.m., on February 27, more than 450 Taliban fighters had also been wounded during the ongoing operation, launched in response to unprovoked cross-border aggression.
In a statement posted on X, Tarar said Pakistani forces conducted air strikes on 29 locations across Afghanistan, successfully hitting designated military targets.
According to the ministry, 89 Afghan Taliban checkposts were destroyed, while 18 others were taken under Pakistani military control.
Officials also claimed the destruction of 135 Taliban tanks and armed vehicles during the operation.
Security sources said the Pakistan Air Force carried out precision strikes inside Afghanistan, targeting militant hideouts and Taliban military facilities.
In Afghanistan’s Laghman province, air operations destroyed a large arms depot, an Afghan Border Force battalion headquarters, the Nangarhar Brigade and multiple forward checkposts. The sites, officials said, were being used to support cross-border attacks and militant activity.
Clashes also continued along the border, where Taliban fighters attempted to target Pakistani positions at several points.
Security officials said Pakistan’s armed forces responded swiftly with coordinated ground and air action, inflicting what they described as heavy damage on the Taliban’s defensive lines.
Further operations were reported near the Mohmand sector, where Pakistani forces destroyed another Taliban checkpost as part of continued countermeasures against cross-border firing.
Additional targets included the Ariana military complex, the Dabgai checkpost, a police headquarters and the Zakarkhel post.
The intensity of the strikes forced Taliban personnel to abandon several positions, security sources said, adding that a Taliban vehicle was also seized during the engagements.
Officials stressed that the armed forces remain fully committed to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and national security.
They said all actions are being carried out in accordance with international law and are limited to Afghan military targets.
Security sources reiterated that Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq remains ongoing and will continue until all operational objectives are achieved, underscoring Pakistan’s resolve to safeguard its borders against any form of aggression.
