ICC announces match officials for Super 8; Pakistani umpires included
2 min readThe International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday announced the match officials for the Super 8 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, confirming the inclusion of Pakistani umpires in the elite lineup.
The second phase of the tournament will begin on February 21, with 16 umpires drawn from the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Umpires and the ICC Emerging Umpires Panel appointed for the stage.
Four members of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees will also oversee proceedings.
The Super 8 opener between Pakistan and New Zealand in Colombo on February 21 will feature Rodney Tucker and Paul Reiffel as on-field umpires.
Allahuddien Paleker will serve as TV umpire, while Sam Nogajski will act as fourth umpire.
Rodney Tucker will also officiate the February 28 clash between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Kandy alongside Sam Nogajski. In Pakistan’s February 24 encounter against England, Nogajski and Nitin Menon will be the on-field umpires.
Adrian Holdstock will be part of the officiating team in Sri Lanka, standing in the February 22 Sri Lanka-England match and the February 27 England-New Zealand fixture.
On February 25 in Colombo, Allahuddien Paleker and Pakistan’s Asif Yaqoob will officiate the Sri Lanka-New Zealand match.
Group One action will begin with a high-profile India–South Africa clash in Ahmedabad, a rematch of the 2024 final.
Chris Gaffaney and Richard Kettleborough will serve as on-field umpires, with Alex Wharf as TV umpire and Chris Brown as fourth umpire.
On March 1 in Kolkata, Gaffaney and Wharf will officiate the India-West Indies fixture. Wharf and Kettleborough will take charge of the India-Zimbabwe match on February 26.
Sri Lanka’s Kumar Dharmasena, a member of the 1996 ODI World Cup-winning squad as a player, recently officiated his 50th T20 International and will stand in the West Indies-South Africa match on February 26 and the South Africa-Zimbabwe game on March 1.
Zimbabwe, which advanced to the Super 8 stage after defeating Sri Lanka and Australia, will face the West Indies on February 23 in Mumbai, with Richard Illingworth and Jayaraman Madanagopal as on-field umpires.
The appointed match referees for the Super 8 stage are Ranjan Madugalle, Andrew Pycroft, Richie Richardson and Javagal Srinath.
The full list of umpires includes Rodney Tucker, Paul Reiffel, Allahuddien Paleker, Sam Nogajski, Nitin Menon, Adrian Holdstock, Ahsan Raza, Asif Yaqoob, Richard Kettleborough, Chris Gaffaney, Alex Wharf, Chris Brown, Richard Illingworth, Jayaraman Madanagopal, Shahid Saikat and Kumar Dharmasena.
