Electricity theft worth Rs10 million uncovered at Lahore factory
1 min readElectricity theft valued upto Rs10 million was uncovered at a plastic bag factory in the Kot Dhani Chand area of Lahore, officials from the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) said on Tuesday.
According to LESCO, an unusual load was recorded on all three phases of the factory—67, 63, and 58 amperes—confirming illegal electricity use.
The factory suffered significant financial losses due to the unauthorised connection.
Officials reported being misbehaved with while attempting to remove the meter, after which the accused fled with the device.
LESCO’s Chief Executive said legal action is underway against those responsible. “Electricity thieves are enemies of the nation, and no concessions will be made to them,” the CEO said, adding that offenders will be dealt with strictly.
A LESCO spokesperson said a crackdown is underway against electricity theft under the company’s zero-tolerance policy.
